## Affected machines
About **6,900 US units** (plus 330 in Canada) of the **2013 Exmark Commercial 30" walk-behind mower**.
### Affected model and serial range
| Model number | Serial range | Production window |
|---|---|---|
| ECKA30 | 313605897 - 313660824 | 2013 |
The phrases "**Commercial 30**" and "**Exmark**" are printed on the front of the black and red mower. "**Exmark**" is also printed on the side of the mower. The model and serial numbers are located on a **decal affixed to the engine base above the left rear tire**.
## Issue
The mower's **blade can break** during operation, posing a laceration / injury hazard to the operator and bystanders.
This recall is a **sister to the Toro TimeMaster 30 / TurfMaster 30 recall** (TNB02600072) — both mowers were built in the same Mexico facility and share the 30-inch deck and blade design. The Toro side of the family had 10 reports of blades breaking at recall time; the Exmark side reported 0 incidents but was recalled out of an abundance of caution given the shared design.
Reported field incidents at recall time:
- 0 incidents on the Exmark Commercial 30 specifically
- (10 reports of blades breaking on the Toro sister models, no injuries)
## What to do
1. Find the model and serial number on the decal above the left rear tire on the engine base.
2. Confirm the model is **ECKA30** and the serial number falls within **313605897 - 313660824**.
3. If your mower is in scope, **stop using it immediately**.
4. Contact Exmark at (800) 667-5296 Monday-Friday 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. CT, or online at https://www.exmark.com — click on Service & Support, then Safety Resources at the bottom of the page.
5. Free Exmark dealer repair (replacement blade).
## Hazard
Severity is rated **warning** because the hazard is real and confirmed (10 blade-break reports on the sister Toro family) but no injuries had been reported across the combined ~41,000-unit recall population at recall time. Owners should still treat this as urgent given the laceration risk if a blade breaks during operation.
