Honda recall of MY2017-2021 Pioneer 700, MY2016-2021 Pioneer 1000, and MY2021 Talon 1000 recreational off-highway vehicles equipped with Electric Power Steering (EPS). ## Affected machines This bulletin covers Honda recreational off-highway vehicles (ROVs) equipped with Electric Power Steering (EPS) across two CPSC announcements: ### December 3, 2020 announcement (~118,600 units) - Model Year **2017-2019** & certain **2020** Honda **Pioneer 700** Side-by-Side - Model Year **2016-2019** & certain **2020** Honda **Pioneer 1000** Side-by-Side ### August 2022 expansion (additional units) - Model Year **2021** Honda **Pioneer 700** - Model Year **2021** Honda **Pioneer 1000** - Model Year **2021** Honda **Talon 1000** VIN ranges for the 2021 expansion: - Pioneer 700: 1HFVE02**M4700031 through M4700694 - Pioneer 1000: 1HFVE04**M4500061 through M4502219 - Talon 1000: 1HFVE05**M4200001 through M4201598 The recalled vehicles were sold in red, blue, green, gray and yellow. "HONDA" is on the front, sides, and rear. The model name is on a label on both sides. The VIN is stamped in the frame at the left rear (Pioneer) or under the left front fender (Talon). Sold at authorized Honda Powersports dealers nationwide from August 2015 through March 2020 (initial) and continuing for the 2021 model-year expansion, for approximately $10,000 - $21,000. ## Issue The ROV can **lose steering control**, posing crash and injury hazards. Reported field incidents at time of initial recall: - 8 reports of steering play or loss of steering control - 0 injuries - 0 accidents ## What to do 1. Identify the model and verify the VIN against the affected ranges. 2. **Stop using the ROV immediately.** 3. Contact an authorized Honda Powersports dealer to schedule an appointment for free inspection and repair. 4.
