Details

## Affected machines This bulletin covers the **Husqvarna-branded** portion of a multi-brand walk-behind mower recall. The recall covers Husqvarna, Poulan Pro, Jonsered, Craftsman, Yardworks, Murray, and Brute brand walk-behind gas-powered lawn mowers with Briggs & Stratton 7.25 HP engines. Per the standing rule that bulletins are always brand-specific, separate bulletins exist for the Husqvarna and Poulan Pro portions; the other brands (Jonsered, Craftsman, Yardworks, Murray, Brute) are not yet manufacturers in the TractorNuity library, so their portions are not covered by separate bulletins at this time. ### Affected description The mowers were sold in red, orange, blue, and yellow/black colors. They have either four similar-sized wheels or two larger rear wheels and two smaller front wheels, a long handle with an operator presence control bar that is pushed down towards the mower handle to start the engine, a mowing deck, and may have come with or without a collecting bag in the rear. The brand names are printed on the mowers, and a Briggs & Stratton logo is printed on the engine shield. The mower model and serial number can be found on the rear of the mowing deck, next to the rear wheel. Sold at Lowe's, Sears, and other hardware stores, home centers, and equipment dealers nationwide from **November 2015 through August 2016** for between $250 and $450. ## Issue The **engine does not shut off after the operator presence control bar is released** when it should. The operator-presence control is the safety system intended to stop the cutting blade (and the engine, in this design) when the operator releases the handle. With the engine continuing to run after handle release, the cutting blade continues to rotate, posing a laceration hazard. Reported field incidents at time of recall: - 53 reports of the engine not shutting off after the operator presence control bar was released - 0 injuries ## What to do 1. Identify the unit by model and serial number on the rear of the mowing deck. 2. **Stop using the lawn mower immediately.** 3. Contact Husqvarna toll-free at 877-257-6921 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, email recalls@husqvarna.com, or visit https://www.husqvarna.com. ## Hazard Severity is rated **warning** because: - No injuries reported - The defect is observable (operator notices engine continues running) - Calibration consistent with similar mower-control bulletins in the library ## Related bulletins The **Poulan Pro portion** of this same multi-brand recall is covered as **TNB02600137**. The two bulletins cover the same defect class with brand-specific units per the standing rule.
