Generac GP Series portable generator carburetor fuel-leak fire and burn hazard (CPSC April 16, 2026)

Generac voluntary recall of approximately 149,400 GP Series portable generators in the United States and 263 in Canada due to a defect in the carburetor that can cause fuel to leak from the carburetor on the generator's initial fill, posing a fire and burn hazard. Generac has received 114 reports of fuel leaks; no injuries reported as of the recall date.

This recall covers the following Generac GP Series portable generator models:
- GP3600
- GP4000DF (dual fuel)
- GP6500
- GP6500E (electric start)
- GP6500CO / GP6500COA / GP6500COB (CO-Sense variants)
- GP8000E
- GP9200E
- GP9500ETF
## Hazard
Fuel can leak from the carburetor when the generator is filled with gasoline for the first time, posing a fire and burn hazard.
## Remedy
Stop using the recalled generator immediately. Contact Generac for a free repair which involves replacement of the carburetor by an authorized Generac dealer.
