Yamaha Drive2 and PTV (MY2015-2018) brake cables can fail

CPSC recall (February 22, 2018): model year 2015-2018 Yamaha gas and electric golf cars and PTVs can have brake cables that fail, posing a crash hazard. Approximately 161,000 units. 285 reports of brake cable failures. Remedy is free dealer repair.

CPSC recall (February 22, 2018). Approximately 161,000 units. The firm received 285 reports of brake cables failing; no injuries reported at time of recall.

HAZARD: The brake cables on the golf cars and PTVs can fail, posing a crash hazard.

AFFECTED: Model year 2015-2018 Yamaha gas and electric golf cars, PTVs, and utility vehicles. For Drive2 specifically, early DR2E/DR2A configurations from MY2017-2018 are included. The model and serial numbers are on a label under the seat on the left or right side.

REMEDY: Immediately stop using the recalled vehicle and contact a local Yamaha Golf Car dealer to schedule a free repair. Yamaha is contacting registered owners directly.
