CPSC recall 25-054 (October 30, 2025; Polaris campaign R-25-04-AA): on certain model year 2025-2026 Ranger XP 1000 NorthStar and Ranger Crew XP 1000 NorthStar ROVs, an improperly routed alternator cable or chassis harness breakout can contact the negative battery post, damaging the insulation and causing an electrical short that poses a fire hazard. About 5,600 units globally. Remedy is a free dealer repair; Polaris provides interim operating instructions for some units.

CPSC recall 25-054, announced October 30, 2025. Polaris safety recall campaign R-25-04-AA, initiated September 10, 2025. Approximately 5,600 units globally. Polaris identified five reports of sparking, smoking, or melting and one report of fire; no injuries or property damage reported at the time of the recall. HAZARD: The alternator cable or chassis harness breakout may be improperly routed to the positive battery post. The misrouted cable can contact the negative battery post and damage the insulation of the cable. A damaged alternator cable or chassis harness breakout can result in an electrical short, posing a fire hazard and risk of serious injury. AFFECTED: Certain VINs of model year 2025-2026 Ranger XP 1000 NorthStar and Ranger Crew XP 1000 NorthStar ROVs, sold in three and six seat configurations in black, blue, bronze, brown, camouflage, gray, orange, red, and white. Sold at Polaris dealers nationwide from March 2025 through August 2025. The VIN is printed on the left rear frame under the cargo box. Verify inclusion with the Polaris VIN lookup at polaris.com recalls. REMEDY: Immediately stop using the recalled vehicle and check the VIN at the Polaris recall page. Polaris identifies two populations: vehicles confirmed to have suspect routing should not be operated until repaired; vehicles that may have suspect routing receive instructions on how to continue operating until the free dealer repair is completed.
