CPSC recall 25-141, announced February 20, 2025. About 2,600 units sold in the United States plus about 180 in Canada. Kubota received 33 reports of the clutch breaking; no injuries reported at the time of the recall. Fast Track recall, conducted jointly with Health Canada. SCOPE: This recall covers the MX5400DTC configuration ONLY: the 8-speed gear drive transmission variant with a factory cab and a 55 horsepower Kubota 4-cylinder direct injection engine. Hydrostatic (HST) and open-station MX5400 configurations are not included. If your MX5400 is an HST or open-station unit, this bulletin does not apply. HAZARD: The clutch cable can break on the recalled MX5400DTC utility tractors, resulting in reduced braking power and posing a crash hazard. AFFECTED: Kubota MX5400DTC utility tractors sold at authorized Kubota dealers nationwide from February 2020 through December 2024. The tractors are orange with KUBOTA printed in white lettering on the chassis. The bulletin year range reflects the recall sold-at window; CPSC did not publish specific model years. REMEDY: Immediately stop using the recalled tractor and contact an authorized Kubota dealer to schedule a free inspection and free repair at the dealer location.
