DR Power PRO MAX30 walk-behind mower blades can run without the blade control engaged (CPSC 26-648)

CPSC recall 26-648, announced August 6, 2026. About 320 units sold in the United States plus an additional 9 sold in Canada. The manufacturer reported 19 incidents involving the mower blades staying engaged or not stopping after release of the blade control; no injuries were reported at the time of the recall. Manufactured by Generac Power Systems of Waukesha, Wisconsin; distributed by DR Power Equipment of South Burlington, Vermont. HAZARD: The recalled mowers violate the mandatory safety standard for walk-behind power lawn mowers because the blades can operate without the blade control system engaged, or continue to operate even after the release of the control, posing a serious laceration hazard. AFFECTED: DR Power PRO MAX30 30 inch deck wide-cut walk-behind power lawn mowers, 10.6 FPT, in three variants, within the following serial ranges: ES, model WM25030DEN, serial numbers 3015894821 through 3017342386. MS, model WM25030DMN, serial numbers 3015662325 through 3017342379. MS Recon, model WM25030DMNR, serial number 3015913138 only. Note that the MS Recon range published by CPSC covers a single serial number. The mowers are orange and black with the DR logo printed on the black clippings bag, front guard and top of the motor, and PRO MAX30 labelled on the front handlebars. The model and serial number are printed on the left side of the mower in front of the rear wheel. Sold at independent power equipment stores nationwide and online at drpower.com from September 2024 through September 2025 for between 1,600 and 1,800 dollars. REMEDY: Immediately stop using the recalled mower unless a free repair kit has already been received from DR Power and installed. If the repair kit has not been installed, contact DR Power for updated repair instructions or to schedule a free repair from an authorized dealer. Owners who have not received a repair kit should contact DR Power Equipment to request one.
